My Work

Week 1 – In week one we played some board games to get a better idea of the mechanics behind the games, and discussed any potential ideas for our own games. We decided to go with Finns concept.  We also had to do some research on climate change, I collected over 10 reliable sources and wrote 4 pages of information.

Week 2 – during week 2 we started to make the prototype for our game. As well as helping with the physical product (making counters and cards) I spent my time working out the in game monetary system and trying to ensure everything would add up mathematically.

Week 3 – in week 3  we created social media accounts to promote our board game, I made an Instagram account, Finn made a twitter account and Hannah made a facebook page.

Week 4 – Hannah set up a survey to help with our marketing and to gauge overall opinion of our board game, during this week I also continued to help make the physical aspects of the game (wrote and cut out more cards)

Week 5 – after realizing the game we were creating was much too complicated and completing it with the resources and time scale we had would be too difficult, Shania came to us with a much easier and accessible plan for a game that still kept the core concept. This week we also recorded a radio advert for which I wrote the script.

Week 6 – with our new game idea we also had to change some of the physical aspects of the game, during this week I created the box for the board and counters to go in as well as another box to hold the cards. I also continued to help Shania by cutting and backing the counters and cards.

Week 7 – almost at the end of our work we still had to create a video advert for our game and iron out all of the last physical elements. For the video I wrote a script and assisted in the filming by helping set up, doing sound and being in front of the camera for a couple of the shots. We quickly realised the script I wrote was too long for the 30 second ad so Shania condensed it. This week I also wrote a press release for the game and wrote the rule booklet.
